First Church of Christ Congregational Clinton, CT
Dear Friends in Christ,
My deep appreciation goes to our Church leaders who made sure that worship was held last Sunday while
Carol and I were away for the weekend. I especially want to thank Dave Rainey who presented a Church
history lesson for the morning message, Joyce Baxter and the Senior Choir, Sue Thompson and the members
of the Diaconate Board, and Jim Davidson. Through a series of adventures and challenges they held the
service in fellowship hall and everything worked out! And thank you to all of you who came out in the bad
weather!
As a reminder, if our Sunday worship service and other Church programs are cancelled, the notice will be
placed on Television Channels 3 and 8 under First Church – Clinton. If possible, notification will also be
placed on our Church website and made through emails and telephone calls.
In our worship service this Sunday we will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion. The Scripture lessons
are Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16, Romans 4:13-25, and Mark 8:31-38, and my morning message is entitled, The
Faithful Journey. Joyce Baxter and the Senior Choir will again lead us in music. Bill Wernau from Heifer
International will present the Conversation with Children. Church School will be in session. We do need
Nursery volunteers, so if you are willing to help out, please let me know. The special offering will support the
Emergency Relief Fund for needy families in our community.
After worship, the Junior Choir will rehearse in the Music Room.
The Mission Committee is extending the Bag It! program to Sunday, March 8 in support of the Clinton Food
Pantry. Please bring your donated food items in grocery bags and place them in the fenced in area in
fellowship hall.
The Quilting Group will meet Monday evening, 7:00 p.m., in the Morning Circle Room.
The Lenten Adult Bible Study continues on Tuesday mornings, 10:00 a.m., in the Chapel. You are cordially
invited to attend any of the sessions that you can come to.
The 350th Anniversary Committee will choose a logo design for the publicity of our celebration. Please submit
your idea by March 30th.
The collection of gently used handbags, belts, wallets, jewelry, and/or other accessories continues. Please
bring your items to the Church office. Thank You!
Hope to see you in Church! And whoever is praying for snow, please stop! Thanks!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Chris
